December First

Falling silently

through the gray dawn

like a child’s butterfly kisses,

the first snowfall comes

dancing snowflakes swirling

in twirling tango

softly sinking into the Earth

as if soothing the world’s woes;

an illusion of beauty

masking Winter’s caress.
